# Quickstart

> Create an API key and retrieve a wallet’s Uniswap V3 position counts.

This endpoint returns the total number of Uniswap V3 positions for a wallet, split into active and inactive positions. The request costs 1 API credit.

## Prerequisites

* Access to the [DeFi Orbit dashboard](https://platform.defiorbit.xyz)
* A wallet address to query

**1. Create an API key**

Open [API Keys](https://platform.defiorbit.xyz/dashboard/keys) and create a key. The API key starts with `do_sk_`. Copy and store the full key securely when creating it.

**2. Call the summary endpoint**

Send your API key in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. Replace the example wallet address with the wallet you want to query.

**3. Read the counts**

`data.total_active` is the number of active positions. `data.total_inactive` is the number of inactive positions.

List those positions with [List Uniswap V3 Positions](/api-reference/uniswap-v3/list). Retry `429`, `502`, `503`, and `504` as shown in [Errors and rate limits](/errors#retry).
